Compliance Officer - Contract

Applications are invited from nationals of Trinidad and Tobago to fill the position of “Compliance Officer - Contract”.

JOB PURPOSE:

The incumbent will be required to ensure that all tenants of the Point Lisas Industrial Estate adhere to the terms and conditions of their executed leases. The incumbent plays a role in safeguarding the Corporation’s financial, operational and environmental interests while maintaining the integrity of the Estate as a premier industrial hub.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

▪    Actively monitors and enforces the terms and conditions of primary leases and sub-lease agreements to ensure all tenant activities align with executed contracts.

▪       Oversees lease related financial data, including rent structures, receivables, and arrears, to ensure timely payments and safeguard the Corporation’s financial interests.

▪       Conducts regular physical inspections of tenant premises within the Industrial Estate to verify adherence to operational and spatial boundaries.

▪       Monitors tenant operations for compliance with environmental standards and regulations, mitigating risks that could impact the integrity of the Estate.

▪       Provides oversight for ongoing infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet established construction standards and regulatory requirements.

▪       Serves as a point of contact to ensure all activities on the Estate comply with local government regulations, industrial safety protocols, and corporate compliance policies.

▪       Analyzes and interprets complex lease clauses and legal documentation to provide guidance on tenant obligations and Corporation rights.

▪       Identifies and addresses instances of non-compliance regarding payments, working closely with the finance department to manage and recover outstanding arrears.

▪       Identifies potential operational or environmental hazards within the Estate and recommends corrective actions to protect the Corporation’s reputation and assets.

▪       Maintains detailed records of compliance checks, financial status updates, and infrastructure progress to provide management with data-driven insights.

▪       Maintains high levels of confidentiality regarding sensitive information and exercises discretion when dealing with confidential information.

▪       Complies with the Corporation’s HSE Policy, Procedures and Statutory and Regulatory requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications and Certifications:

▪       Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Environmental Management, Engineering or related field.

▪       Certification or formal training in Law, Legal Studies, or Regulatory Compliance will be considered an asset.

▪       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Programmes must be from accredited institutions.

Experience:

▪        A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in compliance, auditing, estate management or industrial operations.

▪        Prior work-related experience in industrial estates, government agencies or corporate compliance roles.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

▪       Understanding of construction standards, environmental monitoring and industrial safety. Understanding of rent structures, receivables and arrears management.  Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements relevant to the role. Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

▪      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse teams and individuals at various levels. Sound time management skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivating, flexible team-player. Strong problem-solving and negotiating skills and customer service oriented.

▪      Ability to interpret lease clauses, financial data and environmental regulations. Ability to gather data from different sources, meet tight deadlines, multi-task, handle a high volume of work and function in a fast- paced and high-pressure environment, work collaboratively with little supervision, maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Certificates & Licences:

  • Certificate of Character within the last six (6) months.

 

Required Testing:

The successful candidate will be required to undergo the following:

  • A full Medical Examination (inclusive of substance testing) to determine fitness for the position.
